Since its inception, the Las Vegas Chapter has taken great strides in membership growth to over 100 men in 2004. These men believe in brotherhood as the staple of the organization. While the organization is predominantly black men, membership is open to everyone who meets specific criteria.<\/p>\n<p>\nStarting at the elementary level and continuing through adulthood, the 100 Black Men of Las Vegas reaches the youth in Southern Nevada through a variety of programs, which include Mentoring, Education, Health &amp; Wellness, Economic Empowerment, and Leadership Development. From contracting with professional tutoring organizations to holding community meetings to inform and discuss issues relating to the educational environment in Southern Nevada. We will achieve this by developing programs focused on improving the education, health and character of our student participants with the collaboration and support of parents, teachers, affiliates, and corporate partners. Our vision is to develop a best in class, measurable mentoring program and strategy that will result in significant increase in academic success, graduation rate, and self-esteem of our student participants along with improved community involvement and corporate fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>Mentoring is the cornerstone of what the organization brings to the community\u2014guiding youth in life experiences, fostering a positive self-perception and self-program, encouraging excellence in education, and pursuing positive life-long goals. There are over 103 chapters with over 10,000 combined members in several countries.Founding President Larry Mosley, Randall Bacon and several committed men formed the Las Vegas Chapter in 1999 to make a difference in the Las Vegas community. The 100 Black Men of Las Vegas, Inc. became a chartered member of the 100 Black Men of America in the year 2000.<\/p>\n<p>The organization achieved a 501(c)(3) designation as a non-profit organization and donations can be used as a tax deduction. Women are involved in our organization, carrying out various roles and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t<h2>President's Message<\/h2>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/100blackmenlasvegas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Gentry-Richards-President.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"301\"><\/p>\n<p>I am proud and honored to serve as president of 100 Black Men Las Vegas. This organization is special because it is comprised of successful men from many walks of life committed to giving back to our youth and community. These are exciting times as we prepare for significant internal and external growth. The need to assist our youth and community is paramount as we fight to overcome financial, health, educational, and racial challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Our mission is to \u201ccreate environments where children and their families are inspired to dream, challenged to achieve and empowered to become self-sufficient shareholders in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is my goal to ensure that 100 Black Men Las Vegas provide programs and support that will foster generational advancement.<\/p>\n<p>My vision for the future is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>develop and implement programs that provide social, mental and career development;<\/li>\n<li>advocate for our youth to overcome disparities in education, discrimination, injustice, and inclusion;<\/li>\n<li>increase the level of sponsorship into the organization;<\/li>\n<li>collaborate with organizations with like goals to have a more cohesive impact;<\/li>\n<li>become recognized as an influential and impactful organization in our community; and<\/li>\n<li>establish a staffed location for 100 Black Men Las Vegas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We live in a time where our youth are confused, afraid, and unsure about their future. It is up to us to provide support, answers, and pathways to success. We all must be the change that we wish to see in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Mentoring is and always will be at our core, yet we must also support small business and economic empowerment. We will respond to the needs of our community with scholarships, structured programs and through strategic collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>We are very fortunate to have an Executive Advisory Council that is committed to making our community better. This council consists of senior executives from Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts, Wells Fargo, Cox Communications, NV Energy and College of Southern Nevada with more companies interested in joining.<\/p>\n<p>With the support of our membership, executive advisory council and the community, we exemplify our moto \u201cWhat They See is What They\u2019ll Be\u201d.<\/p>\nGentry D.
