The 100 Black Men of Las Vegas Chess Program has been conducted at 100 Academy of Excellent and Rainbow Dreams Academy. The purpose of the program is to develop students critical thinking skills and help them make better life decisions while learning how to play chess. The program is open to the community with player from 7 to 18 years old. We begin each session with a mentoring topic. The program has developed eleven ranked players. Many students in this program have achieved higher grades in math and science. We have also noticed a reduction in conduct issues. We are also pleased with the participation of parents and teachers with the student.
Our goal is to expand this program in Las Vegas and have a City Wide Tournament with over 100 participants.
